My Story.

Jessica HR Cote

Owner + Designer

My story started in Charleston, working under Sherri Taylor, the owner of Christian Michi.

The store is no longer in business, but it was a magical world she created full of color, pattern, and texture. My degrees in Art and Psychology helped me navigate a sale by really listening.

There, I learned the power of scale. I learned the power of placement. Most importantly, what is visually appealing to some is not for all.

It was an organic growth after that. First homes. Kids. Life. Experiences.

Jobs got bigger. The work more exciting.

I have worked for builders, homeowners, and business owners in all capacities of design. The past 30 years have brought me so much joy in the design world, and I have made lifetime friendships.

And from that journey Sapling was born, from a love of interiors that support real life and feel easy to live in.

My goal is to create spaces where chaos fades, comfort leads, and everyday living feels effortless.

Jordan Johnson

Sapling Designer

My story begins in Colorado, where I was born and raised and developed an early appreciation for thoughtful, nature-inspired design. I studied Interior Architecture and Design at Colorado State University, building a foundation rooted in both creativity and functionality.

I later moved to South Carolina to pursue my MBA at the College of Charleston, where I quickly fell in love with the Lowcountry and its effortless, coastal lifestyle.

With a background in both design and business, I approach each project with intention, creating spaces that feel warm, functional, and easy to live in. At Sapling, I’m passionate about designing environments that reflect each client’s lifestyle and bring a sense of ease to everyday living.
